While freelancing with the Activision Games Blog and the Call of Duty World League, I wrote various articles ranging from official announcements to event recaps and interviews. I was constantly put under strict deadline, and sometimes covered events on location. I also worked alongside full-time Activision employees, and collaborated with them in order to promote the Call of Duty World League as well as Call of Duty in general.
Eventually, this allowed me to get a full-time contract with the Activision Games Blog as their Lead Writer, which allowed me to focus on my dream job as my “9-5” career. This included being the co-writer of the Official Strategy Guide to Warzone, which involved 180,000+ words of copy, 500+ images – over a hundred of which were my personal captures – and much more work done by a team I had the honor of collaborating with.
Being a Lead Writer also allowed me to pursue two separate weekly columns: The Rank Up Report, a quasi-guide to Modern Warfare and Warzone, and the After Action Report, a opinionated recap of the Call of Duty League after each of their weekend events.
Two other series I’ve spearheaded are “Weapon Detail” and “Tactical Map Intel,” breakdowns of weapons and maps within Modern Warfare.
Here is a sample of the work I have done so far, starting with the Warzone Guide:
